First 30lb?????

She wieghed out at 28lbs
Just got back in from the suds, had to cut it short because i saw a bunch of lightning. I have possibly my first 30lber waiting in the fridge as i type this. Its about 42-44 inches . Almost didnt go out because i have to be at work at 9am for a 14 hour day tomorrow, glad i snuck out . I weighed myself on my house scale 165lb, with the fish 195lb, gonna be close, hope she dont drip to much weight over night. Gonna bring her to edwards before work.

You'd get better results if you took a dump before getting on the scale.

Seriously, congrats on the nice fish. Do post some pics?

yes bobbit you did top 30# . didnt you catch that before 2am ? weighed it some time next day ? It lost more than 2#s waiting for the scale . If I had a brain cell left , I know there is a formula for guesstimation of weight loss over time out of the water and dead

Chef, like bassmaster said, its about more than the weight of the fish.... if your pissed it was 2 lbs short of 30, so be it, but please dont loose touch with why most of us fish in the first place.. to enjoy nature, to settle our internal demons, to get away from the rat race, etc.... 28 lbs is a great fish and many of the guys on this site wont top 28 this year.. especially bassmaster, but i digress... 28 lbs is a great fish, and if you keep at it and fish the right times and places, maybe keep a log for future reference, you'll get a fish that makes 28 look like a schoolie The best fisherman is is as happy at the end of the day if he was skunked or if he caught many large...

i'm going to go hug a tree now

Definetly not mad about it being 2lb short, just a lil disapointed. Going out tonight soon as i get outta work. I havent kept a log this year, bought a notebook , just never started it. I have noticed that most of my bigfish are caught around slack tide around the new moon(caught the 28lb about 30 minutes after high).

Just got back in , had 5 fish up to about 26-28lbs, got chased in by lighntning again!! Chrisl i think it probally did lose 2 lbs, my friend kept a fish tonight, that when placed on a fence had fluid run out of its mouth for about two minutes, probally over 1.5 cups. This was after it had been on the rocks for 2 hours.
