Thumbs up Summer 01

This was one of two fish I got over 25 pounds this year.
The fishing has been good this year for me.
I fish Boston harbor most of the time.

Over the last 5 years I can say the big stripers are still around(to me 25 pounds is big) but this year I did not see the big schools in the harbor yea there where small schools with the birds but not the big schools I have seen in the past going for 1 or two miles long.

I hope the poiges come back next year !!!

I know it's not over but what did you guys see this year?

I fished the harbor on a charter 7 times this year. Of the 7 times out, I had 2 slow trips. On the other 5 trips stripers were plentifull. I too hope that the pogies make a comeback. There were alot of herring , and mackeral around. I hope to fish more next year. I am looking into buying a 18-23' center console for next year. I have been fishing Umass from shore the last couple of weeks. It has been good there right around high slack till about 3 hours oof outgoing. Have been staying away from Nut island too many people.

I'd rate this as the worst year for population of all sizes of stripers in recent memory. Last year started off the same, but we had a killer fall, so that made up for it, but this year the fall run hasn't really materialized. I hope that more restrictive regulations go on the books, both for size and number and recreational and commercial.

Yup, still beating that same drum . I'm hoping to, but not if the weather is like this past weekend. I know my gear will get me by if the weather isn't blowing a gale, but I'd have been sadly outgunned at the SOL fling this weekend. I spent it turning over lawn/garden in prep for next year and just taking it easy. I wish I'd called you John to grab that extra Pat's ticket, after tuning in for the last 4 minutes. I had to do a double take on the score, because of who they were playing and the fact Bledsoe wasn't playing. Could it be the end of Bledsoe as the head dog?
