herring are here

got out today with my friend eric in his 21' steiger craft. millions of bass on herring off nebraska shoals. they liked rebel jawbreakers trolled on mono or storm shads, 6" or 9" on wire. gannets put on an wesome show, too. bass to 20 lbs in boat, broke off a large at boatside. it's scale was the size of a quarter.

fishing is not a love, but an obsession

Hmmmm....perhaps Wireman (a/k/a BoatBoy) has learned the error of his ways now!

Or maybe goosefish just pulled the boat for the season...

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
