Cork fore grips
What's the opinion on a real cork foregrip with a cork tape butt?
I'm getting an 11' (cut down a tad) wrapped this winter and was contemplating using real cork on just the foregrip. This rod will be mostly for big needles and swimmers.
Seems to feel nice, but I've never fished one on a surf rod. Thoughts???

I was over in Newport and I felt a cork foregrip on a big rod, I liked it.

Real cork is a great cold weather grip too...it will keep your hands a bit warmer.

the only drawback i would see is with fishing rocks. my cork tape grips take a serious beating. solid cork will chip pretty easily. once it gets too beat up, and it needs to be replaced, you won't be able to put solid cork back on.

Its a very common thing to put a real cork foregrip and a corktape butt.

You may want to consider burled cork, you can sand it to any shape and it is very durable.

I did a couple of surf rods with cork fore grips, I like it and it seems to be holding up pretty good.

I know you could do it now that you have a Clemens. Burled cork, sand paper and a nicklesilver winding check....beautiful.
I do have a pail of snag hooks that you can use for lead and a few Bob Hahn plugs.................

Perhaps easier to show you on your machine. Available after work most nights could be there by 4:30. This way I can fill my pockets with manufactured wood of the needlefish variety. All you need is cork, sheetrock sanding screens and some sandpaper.
