I agree with the paper. All went too quick. However, I think this was only a tease. They just advertised a 2 DVD set going on sale Tuesday. Maybe that'll have a little more in it?

I agree that it was too short and because of that alot of details were left out, however it was done with alot of class!
Brought back alot of memories for me including
Feb. 2001. : (
Like Bob said hopefully the DVD will include more!
I will be very curious to hear what Teresa and Dale Jr have to say about the movie.

I thought it was OK. I would like to see the hightlights that were in the dvd but doubt I will spend the bread. I'm cleaned out from MAC's PIKES.
I'm a relatively new fan of Nascar but can tell that the sport has changed since Dale Sr. passed. Hopefully there will be a driver that raises the level again. The points system and rule changes seem to be taking a lot of the appeal of Nascar away.

I would agree that it was to short amount of time to squeeze a lifetime into.
It also brought back memories of that time as I was present and seated 12 rows up from where his car initially hit the wall.
Taking a day from fishing to watch race is the only way I would ever have it.There are six other days in the week to fish only one day to race.

I think NASCAR has such an appeal because sunday isnt only "race day" its an opportunity to kick back with friends/family. And while many of us will never meet a nascar driver or know them personally its no different than our local races where we would support a father, cousin, sister, brother, neighbor etc.
Though I wasnt around during my fathers car racing days but I was for the snowmobile racing days, just as happy as he when he won and just as down when he lost. I believe the same holds true for our favorite "celebrity"racers.
And the more passionate the racer the more fans they will have...this is why Dale Sr. will always live in the hearts of NASCAR fans!!!!

I was disappointed. Seemed like they had an idea and rushed to get it out in time for xmax and didn't take the time to get it right.
example - Dale used the "...just tried to rattle his cage alittle bit..." about a wreck with Terry Labonte, not DW.
By the way Luds48, Johnson Sucks (j/k)

Sorry
Sorry, my mistake. I read that somewhere and noticed while watching on of the classic races that was on during the day before the race so I repeated it without knowing everthing.
As far as the movie goes, I watched it again last night and, while I know it was only two hours and you can't fit a lifetime into that, they just left too much interesting stuff out. A couple of examples are that his rivalry with DW developed into friendship, the rivalry with Gordon, how he got the lucky penny, etc.

Ronnie,
I too am interested in the DVD. Funny thing is that it seems that ESPN has sole rights to distribution of the DVD. At least thats the only place I found that had it for sale?
I have been a diehard "Earnhardt" fan since I was 7 yrs old and am dying to see the extra footage! DVD is selling for $29.99 through ESPN.com if your interested.
I will order myself a copy after the holiday's. If you really want to learn about the "Man" I would suggest you read the book titled "3" you can get a copy via amazon.com. Just do a search for "3".
Happy Holiday's
Russ

Gonna try get to another race besides Daytona and Louden. Gotta see something new.5 500s and more visits to Louden than I can count.
Charlotte,Dover,Richmond or Bristol would be nice.

should this thread be in the sports section? Wait, a bunch of cars going around in a circle, occasionally killing someone, is that a sport? I don't get it.

Basswipe,
If you decide to venture out and see another race I would suggest Richmond as I wont even bother going to Loudon since I went there! My next two choices would be Bristol at night or Charlotte at night!

Yes, I would rather watch paint dry than people die. I thought I was adding to the discussion. You just have a different view than I. I hate golf. I like to catch bass.

Well lets see....football players have died from spinal and neck injuries.Baseball players have been killed by pitches.Boxers by one to many punches.Soccer players have died in riots.Even golfers have died from lightning strikes.By your logic you mustn't watch any sports.Oh yes quite a few fisherman have died from lightning and drowning.Better give up bass fishing,it could kill ya.
Everything we do can kill ya.Once you realize that life ain't so hard or so bad.
Happy trails.
