so why buy a right hand 7000 and then try to buy the parts to make it a left hand, when you could just buy a left hand version in the first place?

One of the few tips I ever listened to from the Orlando Wilson Fishing Show is, learn to retrieve a conventional reel left handed so you don't have to swap hands after the cast. I'v bought left handed models ever since, including the Abu 7001.

I have a BG 7001. I cannot reel with my right hand, feels to awkward
they are the same price as the right hand retrieve.

hey c.r., i believe the 1 at the end of the # signifies left hand retrieve. e.g. 6501, 7001. i'm a lefty but i use a 7000 rocket. i think it is because i learned on a spinning set-up and i hold the rod in my left hand and reel with my right. now it's the same with the conventionals i use.

or, just learn to cast with both hands. took a while, but it comes in handy.

i have to agree, why not just buy the 7001??? they are cheap enough.
