Weekend Report
SLOW!!!
Left the dock at 0930 Fri, trolling north of the Fishtail by 1ish, trolled till dusk, nada; lotta weed, porposes and some HUGE manta rays clearing the water
Set up to chunk for the night on the SE corner of the tails (east wall) in ~750ft right at dusk I was trying to make bait with a sabiki and diamond jig on a homade PVC rod (pics to come later) and bagged a 8-9lb skipjack/ocean bonito
Chunked with a killer slick until about 0200 Sat, one pick-up/mouthed bait at about 0100, finally bagged it and got some shut eye, we half-assed the slick in shifts from 2-dawn;
trolled 0500 Sat till 10ish, started working out way home, picked up a ~50lb YFT on the edge, worked the area somemore up onto the flats, nada, hit the highfliers around the 480/500 line and picked up 12 or so small 2-5lb mahi; coulda filled the boat, but by 1130 we were headed north at 25kts...

Thanks for that report. I think this has been a off year offshore. I know there were some moments but compared to years past I think most folks have done much better.
That YFT will taste good though. (just don't try and figure out what it cost per pound it will suddenly turn sour.)

MrS.; No doubt, that thought cant come into play. My father has the vacumn bagger for the majority of the steaks, so I ate the sushi and assorted scaps last night... seared with black pepper and a touch of oil... Life is good....
plus the mahi
As far as re last year, who knows, there were a TON of boats out, probably didnt help (counted 70 at the tails)
Lotta marlin around, as well as small swords, always a good sign I suppose...
