The Yo-Yo Problem.....
Being as most here are conservation minded, I will tell you why I think YO-YOing bass is a bad road to go down....First of all nothing is as easy as it sounds.Secondly while it is extemely deadly on bass there is a huge downside. That is the mortality rate of fishing this way. If you plan on releasing a fish that swallowed one of these baits, its gonna die, if you break off , its gonna die...A bass with coat hangers or wooden skewers in its gut cant eat, and loses weight rapidly and basically starves to death. I just talked to a guy who caught a bass of 44 inches that weighed 24lbs, after cleaning it the fish had 3 rods in its gut along with a few sinkers and wire tie material, That fish should have weighed in at in the 30 pound class.
Capt Jim White, landed a fish this year that was 40lbs, the fish had svereral coat hangers in its gut....that fish would have wasted away..
I am no angel however, this method is frought with mortality to any bass you catch should you happen to not want to keep it or break off, which does happen, even with the "high liners" or the commercial fleet, Clammer and I watched a seasoned comm this spring break off with a yo-yoed bass.
Again, I have never fished this way just heard alot about it.
This is why I think teaching someone this way to fish , in the long run doesnt do the fishery any good.
Like I said before , these are just my opinions....I realize when it comes to killing bass I have certainly done my share and used to hold a comm. Licence. The difference is with this method, you dont have a choice as the release or keep,it is a death sentance either way...
Sharing info is fine, this is just one that should not be promoted.

"Sharing info is fine, this is just one that should not be promoted"
right, sharing is fine, but promoting is something else.
The pogies are just now beginning a little bit of a comeback, let's give them a chance like we did to the bass in the 80's and we hope to do for the river herring in the future.
yes, I am a pogie lover, but I fish with plugs and jigs and rubba.
good post Mr. Bill

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.
1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!
It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Just a lucky guess :::
The fish caught Y/Y has nothing to do with a breakoff // when done correctly ========= you catch the fish that hit // that fish 99 out of 100 does NOT have that pogie // that,s why your seeing so many with setups in their guts //// they pick the same pogie off the bottom

exactly..
a little lead and a piece of wire in the gut sure beats a pair/trifecta of vmcs and a hunk of wood hanging off the face.
dont hear too many stories of bass re-caught with plugs hanging from there lips.
to me thats more of a death sentence/risk than a rigged bait.
