So I.......

Spent the weekend in MAINE. I luv Maine, if it weren't for the Cape I would live there, some day you never know ( bass would have to go extinct first) but today as I sat with the bride munching shrimp and fired clams (she was eating the fried clams I wouldn't touch one) at The Clam Shack in Kennebunkport we were sitting in the back under the over hang over the water and what do I spy with my beady little eye? About 30 bass grubbing about the bottom under the pilings under a noonday sun. Most were 6 to 7 pounders but a couple respectable teen fish too. I almost jumped in.

After that I stopped at Eldridge Bros. fly shop in Cape Ned#^&#^&#^&#^& ME and was told the bass are moving and fishing has really peaked plus while passing over a bridge on Route 1 in York there were about 20 people casting to breaking fish on the downtide side from the bridge and roadway and a few were hooked up.

Saw some really nice needlefish that a local Maine guy is making and they are selling at Eldridge Bos. really very very well done. Scored on plug eyes in the specials bin there too.
I luv Maine, anyone here from there and fish plugs? I went from Freeport down to NH.

Why even try.........

Eldridge Bros. fly shop in Cape Ned#^&#^&#^&#^& is a nice shop - went in there about 5 years ago now while vacationing up in Wells and thought it was a well-stocked shop. Worth a stop if you are up that area. I used to spend a lot of time in Maine - specifically western Maine - beatiful place.

Yes, I'm from ME and I fish with and make my own plugs. Had I known you guys were around here I would have gladly put you on fish.

Tossing plugs or big flies into whitewater along the rock ledges between Portland and Kittery is almost a sure thing once the bass move out of the rivers in late June. I like to pick my way up and down the ledges in my kayak getting as tight as possible to the breaks.
