Up to you, if you don't mind a little extra work save em'. Rigged, skin plugs and eel bobs are effective uses for em'.

If you rig them and freeze them in a brine solution...OK. If you freeze them as just eels, what are you going to throw? Freezer burned dead eels that are a year old. Think about that. if you were a Bass what would you eat? A live, fresh eel or a year old freezer burned dead eel?

Rigged eels are pretty deadly. It's absolutely disgusting to do and takes forever, but they work well.
The book "Secrets of Surfcasting at Night" has 2 chapters on how to do it by Al Bentsen.
