If you keep it like this you need to move it t the Grumpy Old Pharts Forum.

I've been sticking with the Devcon....seems to be pretty hassle free

Ok I'll spill. I had some needles for some trades and decided to put 2 coats on because they have some semi sharp edges so I wanted to put 2 coats. I have done it before. The first coat looked great as it mostly usually does so I thought maybe I won't they look so good. This morning I decided to put another on and it looks like %$%$%$%$. Lumpy and all. Never had this problem before but hell you never know. I like the mirror coat and really don't have any problems but this morning I got had. They aren't dry yet but they will be bumpy. Another case of being a perfectionist and should have left well enough alone. They will be perfect for the blind fisherman. I'll call them my braille needles. Hopefully it will spell out something profound, like nobody is perfect. P

First off, it happens... Second, the fish dont care...

I use E-tex.... I usualy do 2 THIN coats, the only time I see them get the "lumpys" is when I spread the epoxt too thick... maybe you were in a rush or devieated from you normal process.... the fish dont care anyway, as i said before....

If it makes you feel any better I boogerd up the tail of a Jointed giant last night that I spent hours on painting a rainbow trout with silver scale pattern, just because I wasnt happy with the tail wrap! Instead of just cutting the wire, I decided to unwrap it, when Idid, I mashed the edge with a pair of linesmans pliars... My wife ran down the stairs thinking I cut my arm off the way I was yelling!

Wink

My daughter was after me to make her a plug. It was a one of a kind and perfect, but i dropped it and put a scratch in it before it was completly dry.
I gave it to her that way and said, look it's not perfect, nothing ever is. She never forgot and when she screws up she tells me she feels better cause of what i said. May not have been perfect, but it turned out good.

P. sorry for your loss.

First of all,,,, total bummer,,,,

I use Devcon,,,, and it is great,,,, I have had minor blems here and there and even had a couple occasions where I was able to smooth out a few lumps by dipping a fresh brush in MEK acetone and wiping softly,,,,,, it did not make it perfect but it sure looked a lot better,,,,

That is exactly what happened. I was in a rush. I am not pissed just disappointed. It is not the first time and I am sure it won't be the last. They will fish, and trade, fine. Haste makes waste. P.

Yes Don but no luck. Really have no idea what the hell happened. Just the law of averages I guess. Things had been going too smooth lately. If they were for me I wouldn't of gave a rats ass but I wanted to swap these and wanted them to look better than the results I got. Oh well that's life. Thank for the commiseration guys.
