What the harbormaster told me . . .

. . . but first, Saturday, took the cover off and a buddy that lives in Plymouth knew of a pond that we could do a shakedown run on and I thought 'Great, the boat has never run in freshwater so it will get flushed as well.' Back the trailer down, hit the key and she goes like she was never put away. We spend the next 2 hours doing hot-laps around this 2x3 mile pond in early March, fun! Here is my buddy, an ancestor from the Silverback-Gorilla tribe, grey like that and early 30's like Taylor Hicks, I suggested Grecian Formula to him.

So all went well on Saturday, motor was perfect, put 15 gallons of new gas in and head to the ramp for Sunday. Get to the ramp and while undoing straps, the harbormaster pulls up in the pickup. Asks, "Are you going out?"
"Yeah, maybe just outside, see if we can't get anything out there."
"Well, just so you know, there is no seatow, no boatus, our boats are not in so if you call it will take a long time before any help comes. You guys are the first ones out this year"
"Uh, ok, hopefully we'll be ok. I know the engine runs as I had it out yesterday and not a hiccup."
"How long you gonna be out?"
"Maybe 1 or 2pm."
"You got a water separator on that?"
"Sure do."
"Good cause most problems are with water in the gas."
"I've got a water separator and 2 spare filters."
"Good day."

No fish but we were able to get out and into the 1-2 footers and in this boat, 2 foot will make one wet. We spent an hour drifting for anything but nothing was down where we were so we headed in.
Here are my buddies hamming it up. Bundled for sure. I have to put the new windshield I have in as well.

What city is this?

It was great to be able to get out and do a quick 23 miles yesterday knowing the boat ran just as it did in December, it was only 3 months after all. And knowing that there was not a single boat out there was nice at the same time.

I'll be out again this Saturday and Sunday, somewhere.

I don't think it's a secret so Long Pond has a state boat ramp and anything up to sixty HP is allowed.

I know it wasn't Long Pond, I think it was Big Sandy Pond. I really don't remember what my buddy said but it wasn't Long Pond because he said there was a 50hp limit on that pond. My buddy said people waterski on the pond in season so we figured we'd be fine if we did some hot laps on it, about 1/3 was still ice, 3-4 inches thick. There was not a soul on or near the water on Saturday, and it did feel good to be out again. I'll be out somewhere both on Saturday and Sunday, then next weekend, us Suffolk County workers get Friday off as well, nice. I know, really, no secret, this is not like spot burning, or even freshwater-run your boat for the first time of the season-burning. Soon, every place will be ice free and the boaters/fishermen will be back at the ramps getting it ON!

That looks bigger than a 60 to me, that's why I was wondering.

Is that the one done around behind Atlantic Country Club, I think it has a camp on the shore. I thought I saw some bigger HP boats out there before, thanks.
