With Spring comes Fishing, with Fishing comes Striper Heaven
So what slice of Striper Heaven are you going to try find this year?
I want to spend some time learning some Islands, mainly the Elizabeths and Fishers.
What about you? What would you like to see & learn differently this year?

I am looking to carve a slice that weighs 40 pounds or more!
I would like to fish Rhody a bit more, and of course monthly trips to a certain boulder encrusted island is a must!
|
Almost time to get our fish on!!!

well, as John knows, I'd like to experience a certain island in the Elizabeths, but for the majority of the season, I'm going to concentrate of putting in the time and really learning my local spots and hopefully catching some large in the process!

May be heading to Martha's Vineyard for the 1st time.
Don't need as big of a slice as Larry needs....just a 30 pound slice for me would be nice.
also want to really dig in and fine some hidden nooks and crannies up along Cape Ann

I'd like to learn the Boston Harbor Islands. I've lived in the city for a couple years, but haven't taken much time to go out there. Could use a 40lb slice myself Bigs. 43lber was my biggest and that was years ago.

I am looking to get better this year. Better = more quality fish consistently. Last year, more time on the water did not equal more fish, so I am doing something wrong. I need to figure out what and fix it. My goal is to break 30lbs and to increase the average size of my catch.
Wish me luck too.

Even though I bought a small 16' Carolina Skiff this year I don't want to totally give up on surf casting. I love hitting the local spots in my area and this year I'd love to hit some RI spots. The problem with that is I'm usually visiting relatives and it's hard to get away. My Uncle said he wants to start surfcasting this year so maybe I'll get out with him. Otherwise I'll be exporing and hitting Duxbury bay and my local waters with my skiff seeking the large and enjoying the outdoors.

Hopefully make my first Cutty trip w/Tlap and Krispy. Can I say Cutty?
Other than that, business as usual. Child #2 coming in late June so that will probably be the end of my season.

I would like to see my 12 yr old son land his first over 30#, in the past 2 seasons he's already got 105 fish between 20-30 under his belt.As for learning,35 years into this i still learn something new on every trip.Last season threw everything i thought i knew right out the window.I'm hoping for more of that.

Looking forward to the Spring "Bunker Run" along the Jersey Shore
if its anything like the comeback of this type of Bass Fishing last year we are in for another treat... Word is that schools of Adult Bunker are already showing up or did they ever leave ?
Hooked myself up with a big meat stick this year - so I am ready for live-lining and deadhead fishing for Large....
But for the most part will still be plugging (with big pencils and poppers) looking for that explosion on the surface as always...
Good Luck Everyone This Spring....

Back to the magical island, also hoping to get over to BI and even out to Montauk once or twice this year ... as it's been quite a few, almost 15 since I was there last and have had too many invites not to go, but with family and work, makes it tough.
Also spend more time on the local rocks and beaches, as the ones who do the best typically are those who stay in one specific area and learn it right ... and I feel there's a bunch of unearthing I can do close to home.

Never caught a keeper from the shore in NJ, so it would be my goal and with a homemade plug.
