HELLO EVERYONE" I WAS WONDERING ABOUT FISH FINDERS WHEN FISHING FROM SHORE. ARE THEY REALLY GOOD DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS WHAT THE BEST SET UP IS . SHOULD I USE THEM OR WOULD IT BE BETTER TO JUST TIE A WEIGHT ON THE LINE . IVE BEEN DOING OK BUT AFTER SURFING THIS GREAT SITE FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS. I THOUGHT I WOULD ASK THE PROS FOR ONE MORE TIP. TO HELP CATCH THE BIG ONE. THANKS FRIENDS, FOR ALL THE PAST INFO. RON @BEACHIN3

The fish finders do make a difference when chunking, although some prefer a Hi-Lo rig... The fishfinders also give you the option of quickly changin' weights as the current speeds or slows...

LOL! I thought he was talking about the electonic fish finders...I thought wow, fish finders from shore, these guys are getting high tech! It wasn't until I read John's post that he meant the rig.

The day they develop an electronic fishfinder for surf fisherman will be the day the sport is destroyed.

Talk about taking the fun out of it.......if I wanted to make sure I caught fish every cast I'd fish in a boat.

The one thing I would add is to make sure the openings of the fishfinder has no rough edges. I've seen some with edges that can cause abraisions on your line.

I think fishfinders are good. You might also want to look into a bait clip to use with it. It helps keep the bait and sinker together in flight during the cast which will really help you get it out there. When the bait hits the water , the bait clip lets go and the fishfinder is free to slide.

Yeah, I recently bought one of those "From shore fishfinders", they're not cheap. They cast excellent, shaped like a ranger (thats where the transducer is ya know). Last time I went out I forgot to tie a steel leader........yup, blue cut me off. Now I'm waitng for Humming Eagle to send me another transducer.
