Eels - day?????

I've been intrigued by a number of the On the Water TV episodes, fishing Nomans, Elizabeth, Cuttyhunk from a boat which they were fishing with live eels in daylight. To me, that is dream fishing.
Live eels are my favorite bait, my father ingrained in me that once its light, take off the eels. For some reason, there is a unique aspect of boat fishing where large bass are caught, near shore, in daylight or early morning. Factor in my nightime view of eels, and its just bewildering to me.

So, do any of you toss eels in the light? How succesful are you? Is this only an "island" - Cutty, Eliz, Nomans thing ( I doubt it).
Big question from me, something I have wanted to post for awhile, now that I have a boat, I would love to fish like this but it would help if I had some confidence and got over the "no eels in the light" concept I believe in!

I've fished eels during the day for years. Over in Montauk everyone used them night and day during the fall run.

I've fished eels in the daylight with some success, always from a boat. Problem is that dogfish come round pretty quick..

once the blues are thick in the bay you are wasting your money IMO.

But I have had luck in late may/early june with eels during the day.

I can think of one member who's taken a very nice bass during the day on eels.

Depending on the season, in the fall particularly, I prefer eels during the day to any other bait to toss or three way from the boat.

we killed bass with eels on BI, but no blues around. Bay is tough during the day because blues never leave

We fish eels with great success through vineyard sound, nomans, cuttyhunk, and the elizabeths. In fact a friend of mine got a few 40's 2 weeks ago in one of these spots with eels during the day.
