no clue where to go or what to use

I just started fishing saltwater and I just got a boat. I have no clue what I'm doing. I've tried Herring and clams around Hull Gut but I had no luck.

If you have any places, techniques, lures or bait that have been succesfull around the south shore please reply.

Herringman, welcome to SB !!!!

Being<<< VERY,VERY>>> careful get near the rocks (lots of em' across from hull gut). Throw your herring chunks near the rocks.

That should get you started.

Yep - now it will be slow for a few more weeks but it will start to pick up soon... What size is the boat?

to John R - It's a 23 ft 1979 Sea Ray. It's a great starter boat for my family and I to learn on.
