Tuna Tuna with the kid brother
Went east yesterday with my brother and his father in law and got into 'em pretty good. Great whale show and bait everywhere. Here are some pics from the trip. We trolled all Canyon Runner bars and they shined. I love those CR bars.

Dude, Nice fish! I'm jealous. Actually as I grew up just outside of Boston, I'm wicked jealous.
I see the safety cable on the rod. is that a line attached to the back of your gimbel belt/harness? I also put a clip on the back of my harness when fighting a big fish just for piece of mind I guess.

FO, Thanks for the compliment. The safety leash hooks up to the reel not the harness or the person fighting. That way if you fall over you simply push the "L" hooks out of the reel connected to the harness and your free. If you tie yourself to a line you become part of the load bearing system which makes it extremely dangerous and exceptionally hard to get out of the water with the boat going one way and the fish pulling the opposite way. The connection of the angler to the rod and reel by "L" hooks is the safest way to fish big fish. Safety first.

OK, I see. I thought you had 2 separate lines. Reel to boat and boat to harness. But yes, you go in and you are in the middle of the tension between the fish and boat. So in your setup, you go in, the tension is between the boat the reel and the fish and you are just floating attached to the reel and you unhook yourself, get back in the boat and then worry about retrieving the rod. I'm gonna look into that setup. How is the cable attached to the boat? What kind of hook or attachment secures it to the boat and where? Is there something on or under your rod holders?
Back to the tuna. How much is the one that the two of you are holding? 100 lbs? Very nice fish!

Maybe 150. Its not a big one. Tie the rod off the cleat to a carabiner to the reel.

There has been a goog bite goin on...I saw a 450 that came to the dock and most guys had a couple fish in the 150 class. It is almost worth the run.
150 gal * $4 = $600
300# of fish *.40 (60% waste estimate) = 120# net
600/120 = $5/lb
It is selling in the market for $7/lb retail right now. I guess it is worth it as long as you hook up.

Hooper,
I'm still running the 21 Stiegercraft. We had a huge day yesterday with some really nice fish. I'll post later. Great class of fish right now. Do you remember where I called you in last year? Right there. Big jay I have 70VSW and like 'em but those in the picture are 80vsw. Gives you a good shot on the giants if you get on them.
