Wolf Fish

Saw a guy chunking small pieces of mack near me yesterday catch 2 small Wolf Fish. He had no idea what they were and couldn't get the hooks out till I helped him. It was my first time handling them and they are pretty funky looking to say the least. Those teeth look nasty. These fish were caught on the bottom at low tide at a very popular spot in my town. I never knew this species ventured this close to shore. I thought they were a deep, cold water species.

I love those things

Every time I go out with the Yankee Fleet I pray to catch one..

They have almost humanlike faces to me.

I wish i took a pic with my phone. The things had full rows of big teeth. I didn't get my fingers too close because I used the hook remover.

I caught one on a Capt John boat YEARS ago, like a big one they had it grab the I beam overhead the thing latched onto it like a pitbull and after 3/4 hr. it dropped dead , very tasty like lobster & UGLY
I also thought they were cold water bottom fish . I know here in Wareham the water temp was in the 80's last Sat ,never seen one around here just in eastern H2o CC bay.
