Wierd morning at the Ditch

My Buddy backed out on me so hit the Ditch around 4AM. Went down the stairs of doom and found a few guys spread out some in my spots. Started heading East to the High Bank but turned around. Looking down at the waters edge I spot a large on its side??? Headed down the rocks fell on my A#% bruising my tailbone(it still hurts!) Got to the fish and lo and behold its a PIG! Now I have caught a half dozen fish this year over 30 lbs. up to 37 and this fish is larger. It was over 45" long and had a huge girth. Grabbed it by the gill and the fish is still alive. Admired it and turned it back out flushing its gills with fresh water and it swims away. Now you all are thinking what did CR1 smoke but this is true. I'm not sure why this fish was there but it had no line or hooks in it and hopefully it will live. Well I still had to legally catch a fish for the tourny but only got one small bass. Did get four nice fluke.

Thanks guys I knew this fish would of won or put me high up in the tourny but NO WAY would I weigh it in. It was dark and would of been easy to get away with it but a conscience is a good thing, besides with my luck I would have gotten a heart attack by the time I climbed the stairs! I'm still dumbfounded as why it was just laying there has anyone else found one like this?

you passed

i hope it wasn't the fish i released...i landed one that went over 43" with a nice gut a ways east of the 1000 steps around 3am or so...she seemed to swim away just fine after a few minutes of cpr...

with the speed of the current at that time, i spose she could have made it down near you in an hour...

CR, great story, and good for you.

JJ, bummer if it was the same fish, but hopefully, it had a happy ending...

(So, can I catch her now?....nah, better she rest up and recover....)

JJ I almost stopped at your spot, saw your car but decided to head further west. This fish was longer than 43" and had a big gut. It looked like it just had a booboo belly from over eating.

Tony, that was mighty kind of you to do the right thing for that fish.

The big gut may also indicate it was the swim bladder distended from being hauled up from the depths too rapidly in the warmer waters that we have now, I hope that is not the case but I had that happen to me ealier in the year Anyway, you're correct a clear conscience is much better to have than some prize. I bet that fish is ready to be caught again by now
