Caster's elbow

I'm pretty sure this is not a true scientific malady, but that's what I'm calling it. Dam it hurts, even makes me flinch when I'm trying to open a door. Anybody else ever get this? Kind of hurts above the elbow. Got it from flinging my pencils. Does it go away, or am I farged?

It's the "blue-collar" version of "tennis-elbow".
There are 2 trains of thought regarding this type of injury/ailment:
Rest/rehab which would mean your season would effectively be over, or strength training/workout (to strengthen the elbow). It won't solve the problem immediately, but will ease the strain and pain by season's end.
I get that same pain from time to time, but since I started exercising during my luch hour, it hasn't been a problem for a couple of years now.

If it doesn't show any signs of getting better, check with your doctor.
(Just so you can be ready for next year.)

Had it in both arms, inside elbow is "Golfers elbow" and outside is "Tennis elbow". Mine would not go away, did injections and PT, didn't help. Ended up getting surgery on both arms to release the tendons. Long recovery (about a year) but is finally 100% again.

Like Basic Patrick said, usually doing curls with light weights helps.

Tennis elbow! You can buy a brace at a sporting goods store that helps relieve it and eat a lot of advil to get you through to winter.

Every summer I get this now for the past 3-4 years. It get's magnified even more after a round of golf as well. The way I look at it is that it's the price to pay for getting older and doing the things that you love. Advil works but I don't use it all the time. Ice after you fish and have a beer or two.

I got it 16 years ago and used an elbow strap to alleviate the pain. Eventually it went away and hasn't been back since.

Common problem - I found that the rod has a lot to do with it. Try using a rod that loads properly without muscling the cast. I went to a 1088 and smoothed out my motion and the pain is less. Bob - old has a LOT to do with it..

i'm a therapist and work with these kind of injuries a lot. if you're having some pain and discomfort with gripping activities and your top casting arm hurts, it's likely tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis. the casting motion sometimes causes micro tears on the wrist extension muscles that originate on the forearm. the kind of snapping motion of casting hyperextends the forearm muscles causing tears.

the doctors at my hospital usually put the patients on a 10 day plan of alleve or motrin, wear a wrist splint from cvs for 2-4 weeks, and rest/ ice after activity. if it's really bad they go to therapy or get cortisone injections.

the elbow is complicated. you mentioned pain above the elbow, so that may also be some triceps tendinitis. pm me if you have an questions. good luck

use your left hand for a change

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.
