4-leg reports
I enjoyed seeing everyone again and thanks to Mike @ M&D for hosting again. Unfortunately I couldn't do the late night cape trek because of a job in the morning, however it worked out well. I ended up at the east end of the canal and had a ball. Well I did and didn't, damn blues (including a big arse 15 lber I landed) kept cutting my jigs off and I really didn't want to go back to the truck for wire. Landed about 6 blues and the icing was 4 chunky bass, with the largest going maybe 34 inches.
I started bottom bouncing my 13 inch Mega Jerks with 4 oz, but the blues where biting them in half. Switching to the 7 and then 5-1/2 inch split tails when I ran out of the bigger baits was the ticket. Slip I can see how you could get addicted to the jigging and being an fresh water jig & pig nut, I love feeling the bottom. Kept going lighter as the slack approached and called it an early around 8:30, with blues feeding all over the east end when I left. I just figured I'd sacrificed enough plastic and lead for the night . The bigger bass and 15 lb blue were fun and made it worth while. It was also fun driving the two either side of me nuts as I was either getting fish or bite off on every cast and they weren't getting a bump. Do you think the cards I gave them might get me some business...lol.
Hope the others fared well, maybe some reports of monster large from the cape trekers tomorrow, tight lines.

I didn't think she was gonna make it...it was a little tough getting a measurement, we had to walk a ways back to shore...and of course I had to go back with him, to witness the dang measurement...
he spent more time puttin her back than he did taking her out!!
...hey Goose, you ain't the only one feeling chitty ...I should've just fished in my birthday suit, as wet as I ended up. That surf must have been the tail end of that tropical storm. Wave after wave just kept pounding on us...couple of close calls ...thats why when fishing in dangerous conditions/places, one should never fish alone.
Can't wait to read/see about the other troopers

first off, very nice fish tony. i also want to thank mikecc for the use of his place for the BBQ.
gee, where to begin? well the outer cape produced no fish for me, but i did see a couple of 40" fish caught. (just drive a stake thru my heart) Being the first time i have ever fished the cape beaches, guess you could say i was given the tour. JohnR, baZZa, specialist, and i started at coast guard beach1 in eastham as the tide was falling. really nice beach with some pretty good surf, maybe 4-5'. we fished plugs and eels with no luck. we decided to move when the tide was pretty much bottomed out. we met up with ChrisL at the head of the meadow and the wind there was blowing pretty good and straight in our faces it would have been difficult to get anything more than 10-15 yards off the shore. so next stop was race point. wind was still blowing pretty good, 20-25 easterly with about the same size surf as before. we fished here and there for a bit and pretty much worked our way down the beach all the way around the tip without any luck. we ended up heading back towards home around 3am with no fish.
of course when i finally got home i took a quick cruise down to the beach and it was almost flat a$$ calm. I still have to say seeing all the "spots" last night was worth the ride and the time spent getting there, it would have been alot sweeter if i had hooked up with a couple of fish, but i guess thats why they call it fishing right!!

Hit the Canal after the bbq as I was not up for the trip to the outer beaches. Hit a cape side spot after seeing GS at the Sagamore. Hooked three and landed two. Both were 32" -34". There certainly are fish in the ditch currently. Everything I've been catching there the past few nights has either been in the 26"-27" range or 32"-34" range. Stayed until right afetr slack at night.

Nice Fish. I hit Powder Point with Shore Maniac. The surf was just right, not flat calm, but not so rough as to make chunking difficult. "Striper Water", I thought.
As he said, there was an MIT frat party on the beach. There was a particular young lass that WAS quite distracting. As I was chunking, holding the rod 90% of the time, I was enjoying the scenery. Of course, on of the few times I spiked the rod to grab a drink or something, she decides to peel off her sweats to reveal a VERY SMALL orange bikini. Watching her run down to the surf......she jumps in the water swims around a bit and, comes back out of the cold water (GULP). Just then I look up and the rod is bouncing like mad....by the time I picked it up, the fish was gone. Always the way.......
The other good hit I had was similiar.....SM had to go back to the car to get a sweatshirt. He comes back and gives me my keys back, so I spike the rod and undo my wader belt to put the keys in my pocket, and at the second...zzzzzzzzzzzzz....and by the time I pick up the rod, she's gone again.
A few other hits, but from the feel of them, am pretty sure they were skates....then the water started to get too skinny, so we headed to the bayside and fed crabs for about 2 hours.
Anyway, thanks to all at the BBQ, and special thanks to Mike for the use of the lot.

Het Steve, at least the lady you saw was far more spectacular than the "lady" GS found at the Ditch ... That He/She woulda kick all our butts and probably call it a spanking, anyway ...
MikeCC - thanks for the accomodations & thanks to Capesams for providing the grille...
Pretty much as said, Me, Specialist, Bazza, & the Crabster we hit the Cape and found decent conditions and it even smelt & felt fishy but the only fish at CG Eastham was when a guy was chunkin' an eel, a 25 pounder was swimming in less that a foot and a half of water (it was less than 6 inches of water within 20 minutes of him catching), and it goes and sucks down the eel...
Afterwards, every place was HOWLING with wind... Still, good time, and good fishing, got to learn a little more about some places I like (it's just so important to see them in the daylight)...
Chris - thamks for the tours, dude

JohnR, Specialist, etc... sorry i never met up with you guys saturday night. being that i am not too familiar with the names of the beaches up there, i checked my map when i stopped to fuel up at the gas station. the map listed two coast guard beaches, i went to the northern one not the one down by nauset which is where i guess you all went. by the time i realized what i had done, it was already dark. so, i fished the "getto", but was blown off the beach, headed south and ran into much of the same. didn't end up landing anything that night. sunday, however, was a different story..... ... made a killing! caught the tail end of a frenzy! many BIG fish.......
by the way, anybody know where i can get a 60# boga???? the 30 is just too small.....

Ummm... were you joking about the 30 being too small or are you serious?
Reson I ask is that I just found out about the boga today. I see they come in 15 and 30lb models. I wasn't sure which one to get as I haven't landed may big fish in my time although I hope to at some point!
Does the 30 weigh from 1 - 30 or 15 - 30?
Thanks,
Rob

the scale goes from 0 - 30 pounds. but, it can hold up to like 80 or 100 pounds. i am serious about it being too small, in that any thing over 30#'s is a mystery as to its exact weight. i'll just say that i bottomed it out 4 times sunday night......

Drumcorpfan and I hit South Cape Beach in Mashpee with nothing to show for our efforts. I only saw one rod go off on the whole beach, and the guy was busy doing something else! :smash
Sounds like a lot of other people had good luck on Saturday. Thanks again Mike for providing the grill and letting us use your place.

Bloo, I'm sorry but that won't work. You see, maybe if we had a junior's division it would but you were about 8 years old at the time, right?
