Before we invoke the name of you-know-who, was the guy fishing specifically for them? Or just one of those yearly freak catches?

WOW

Thats is pretty amazing and things like this are what brings us back after a night of being skunked.

Also, I think that maybe the new record for a tuna being caught from shore the only other one I have heard of is

On October 30, 1986 Dan Colli hooked and landed a 68-pound yellowfin tuna on a Spofford Ballistic Missle while casting for bluefish.(Source-Striper Hot Spots)

Imagine the fight he must have had with that fish on a surf rod. He should submit that pic and story to Sport Fishing magazine....

Hi Slip! (and all)

Been busier than a one-legged man at a butt kicking contest.
(heard that in a flick one time, thought it sounded good)

I totally agree, a good catch. Was just curious if he was after them specifically or a by catch.

BTW, I was on an overnight in the Hudson Canyon last weekend. A group of 4 anglers we had 9 yellowfins, 6 longfins, 3 dorado and released 3 brown sharks. Attached is a pic.

Highlight of the trip was when I was fighting a yellowfin it made a long powerful run such that I thought I was into a real good one. When it came boat side we saw why - a chunk had been bitten out of it! We figure one of those big canyon makos had tried for an easy meal.
