Striper Lures

Hey guys, I'm new to this site but I've been fishing for a long time and know many things. What would be your general most productive fishing lure for stripers? Mine would probably be a Cotton Cordell Pencil Popper. Also what do you think is a good lure to use during the spring migrations on the north shore of Long Island? Thanks Guys!!!!

i don't fish the north shore of LI but if it is anything like MA, thats usually the time when you see the biggest squid around so lures that imitate squid would be a good bet. im a big fan of jointed bomber and plastics but i know needlefish and many other plugs work great at night.... you will here a thousand different answers on this one

I'd have to say soft plastics - sluggos, fin-s, ronz, storm shads, etc. Definitely the most productive group for me, with bucktails a close second. In the spring, up here on the North Shore of Mass, any of the above in white and on the smaller side.

Thumbs up

Most anything on your list depending when, where, wind, time and tide.... each catches if you find fish and use the right one at the right time

Good health and family

.... Pencils and Polaris poppers... small dannys when the herring are around... Tins work great before the blues show up.. then it's just a trinket for them to slam.. bluefish like shinny things....

I dunno why i like that Cordell popper so much.. I usually go thru 4-5 in the beginning of the season... they are so prone to getting damaged... a small crack and a decent fish = problems....

Another plug i like is the Super Strike Bottle darter loaded with BB's...

hot glue in the cardboard tube for putting eyes on rods... the name escapes me at the moment...

I'll hit it quick with the dremel brush to give it a deep scuff and just coat it...

Ferrule cement...
