gps map chip upgrade

has anyone sent back the map chip to garmin for it to be updated? did it have more detail? was wondering if its worth it for the $90 bucks. i know rock piles don't move. my chip is 4 yrs old now and last year i found a few shoals that wern't on my charts. i wonder how often garmin update their own maps.

I'd like to upgrade my chip and I'd like to be able to hook up my
182C to my PC . I wonder if they can do it online via a card reader???
