Where are the Bass right now?
I am driving down to Virginia Beach on Friday to visit my friend for the weekend. I figured I would stop on the way back up Monday and take a few casts. What state would be my best bet, I was thinking New Jersey, and which ones, if any, require permits.
Thanks
Jon

I would say NJ right now as well..... Hatteras is always a good bet though too. Not sure what the beach permits are like down there. I have never traveled that far south to fish before.

VA Beach, Hampton Roads, those Chesapeake baybridge piers. Both sides of VA shoreline.

I just watched that show "Sport Fishing Magazine" with that annoying white-haired dude. They were in Virginia Beach in January and seemed to be hammering stripers into what looked like the mid 40lb range wire line trolling. They were using some huge looking jigs and 12 inch shads. good stuff, I feel a trip coming on next winter!! (yeah right)

I just was in Virginia Beach, they are doing very very well there right now. If I recall correctly, the 73 pound bass came from an area right near the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel. The guy I bought my boat from fishes all winter long.

Just got back from VA Beach. Didn't get any fishing in, but did some scouting and made a few connections. From what the locals say the fish are on the move North. Shouldn't be long now!!
The tackle shops down there are way more geared toward boat guys than surf guys.

fish in NJ are residents. The main body of fish is still off VA. My buddy is running his Contender down there and they are hammering them. Find the gannets and you will be in big bass.

I wish they would hurry up.
It's been a long 3 months since I last fished and I miss it really bad. My gear is ready to go and so am I.

1 @ 32 Pledge. Our beloved Striped Bass are in trouble AGAIN.
I fished through the lean years and don't want to live through another collapse of the stock.
2 fish @ 28" is ridiculous.
