Water Strider

So even though my little water feature isn't done yet I decided to clean it out and hook up the pump and waterfall box just to see how much water volume I was dealing with...before I built the real stream and waterfall.

Not more than an hour later there was already a water strider zipping along the surface.

Like where the flock did it come from? It's not like there's running freshwater anywhere nearby.

Could be the egg was somewhere in the pump and the conditions were right for it to hatch.

I put in an asparagus bed in many years ago and suddenly had an Asparagus Beetle outbreak with not another bed for miles around.

What????, they just flew over saw it and landed. County Ag specialist said the eggs were prolly already on the roots when i planted.

I was just wondering last night while sitting out on my new patio next to the pond how your set up was coming along.

I've never had them in my pond and its well established.I assume the fish eat them.

Soon enough the frogs will be croaking away.Got a little garter snake around the pond this year.
