Camping with Kids
Hey all you fathers out there that have taken your kids camping. I was planning on taking my 3 year old daughter camping in late June, but the situation has fallen through. She was very excited about sleeping in a tent in the woods.
So I am looking for a recommendation for the Mass area - preferably near the Mass coast or Southeastern CT - so that we can get back home easily enough if it doesn't work out with her -- actually it's so we can go fishing too, try to combine the two if possible.
I am looking for a campground or park - essentially a good place for us to pitch a tent, build a fire but also has activities close by. Per her age, it needs to be easy access in and out.
Appreciate any insight you can share.
Thanks,
Andy

You may want to try Salisbury State Park,, they have fishing and a nice play ground, ocean and river beach. Plus close to your house

I don't know about MA or CT but Burlingame in Charlestown , RI is great. Except for the big holidays , its never full. it has showers , a store , easy access to good beaches and restaurants , stores , etc. Cheap too.

spent my childhood there, most every weekend in the summer coming up from CT. It was $8 a night. The other weeks we went to Dunes Edge in Ptown.
I had a weird experience taking my son camping at 3. He would wake up disoriented and screaming in the tent. Not fun in a campground at 3am. He then went on a 2 month strecth of wetting the bed after being dry for 6 months. Weird. We havent tried it since!

I have never been to a campground that catered to young kids . I have always taken them to nickerson campground in Chaplin Ct . nowhere near the salt . right on the natchaug river with a small playground . state forest next door . My kids even at a young age loved to hike with me .
strawberry park in preston Ct has some playground stuff for various ages .
