Some info that might help...
The original Breakaway Rods were made with All Star Blanks (mfg in TX) but designed by the Beakaway CO in Australia. This collaboration made with All Star blanks was AWESOME in just about all sizes, you can tell the difference as the All Star Logo was printed right ont he Butt next to the Breakaway Logo. (note to John R...my heart broke a few weeks ago when I broke the top 8 inches off an original Breakaway LDFS90M which was about the baddest factory spinning rod ever built for when it comes to tossing plugs)
Some years later one of the big catalog companies (Cabela's) had a lesser Breakaway designed with a lower quality blank and these were not as good.
I do not know much about who is making Breakaway these days but I know the current Breakaway LDX is a very popular Rod getting good reviewsin NJ & Hatteras in the larger sizes. FYI, remember these longer rods are built for tossing big weight and bait and the action is not built for plugs...play with the rod and make sure it fits your intended use.
A lot of the Batson blanks are similar to the All Stars because one of the designers went to Batson from All Star.

The new breakaway rods are made in China and are not near the quality of the Allstars. Since Allstar is no longer making these rods/blanks I have gone to building on Rainshadows. There are the close to exactly the same as the old allstars as you'll get. The blank designer who used to work at Allstar now builds these blanks at Raishadow.
I 1000% reccomend the Rainshadows..............................
Patrick replace that breakaway with the Rainshadow you won't be disapointed.
