Went with
a decent kayak for $659 and it was a very good deal. If it does`nt work out with my health issues I can sell it I figure.
Will be trying my first time next week on the Nashua River for a couple hours. My guess is I`ll be pulling into shore to stretch every 15 minutes .
Wish me luck and I am truly sorry for those who think its wrong of me to have gone this way. I can see your side which is not without merit.
Best to all,
Mike

When I donated plugs to help you out, or any cause I give too, I did it so you could get back to doing things you want too. I didn't expect you to give up enjoying yourself. I do it with no strings attached. Some say I am naive but I do it unconditional, ball is in your court. As I am sure you know it is better to give than receive. I am sure you, as most all who enjoy this site, are stand up guys and gals and someday someone else will be out of luck and hopefully you will be back to normal and can give to them to help them out and that is all that matters in my book. No explanation required, to me anyway. Enjoy yourself, life is too short. P.

Skitterpop, get some tube n worm tubes and some gulp sandworms.. tow them around some shallow water boulder fields and enjoy yourself. they work the best at the slowest paddle you can manage, so this would be perfect for you.

Where I am in NH and the cost of fuel I might make it to the ocean late in the season but thanks for the tip Eben.
I have a bunch of tube like stuff: DeLong 13" heavy duty two hook rigged hard rubber eels that are weighted, some big old 15" rubber eels/ a few in black and olive over silver pearl with a big asst. of all sizes eel tins, some 4 and 5" tubes with shirted tails, big rubber/plastic worms....the kind of stuff that would`nt sell in BST and classifieds unless you gave them away.
By the way if anyone is desperate for a few of these type items let me know and I`ll give away a few mini kits.
I will be seeking small and large mouth, pike and pickerel, and whatever else is up here in the fresh water.

If it all works out I will visit Rhody next year to meet and greet and anyone is welcome to take her out for a spin
I guess you salty kayakers have to have a light and some other stuff maybe thats different for freshwater?

Do you mean my back issues or just in general? I`m embarrassed to say I had trouble sitting in and getting up out of the kayaks I looked at just on the floor of the shop I went to.... I would only do it when no one was looking and my wife had to help me up
So it came with a half decent seat and yes I will take it easy. Only problem I foresee is if I bring a rod and reel and hit a 5 lb smallie I`m not going to want to stop.

I'll second that! Mike, you don't know how much it warms my heart that you are able to do this thing. I wish you the very best with it. Take some pictures for us, ok.

MIKE!!!!
good for you, buddy, and a very wise choice ~~indeed!
i shore hope that you WILL take it easy and i would suggest a couple of weeks of some abs crunches and sum torso twisting to prepare you for your maiden voyage......................
yaks can be murder on the back, if not properly stretched and yer muscles ready for that type of "exercise". not being a naysayer, but
there's nothing worse than getting jazzed about starting sumthing new, only to incurr another set-back that may further depress you.
keep hanging in there, you and Karin both, and keep us informed of your progress. and just so YOU know
my contribution was unconditionally given ~~as was most of them, i hope??!
GENTLEMEN, it's up to Mike to choose and only HE can answer
for HIS choices, not you, not me, and not the fence post. for cripes sakes,
he's just trying to get out and wet sum lines, exercise, and begin the lifelong process of
teaching/training his body how to cope with such a DEBILITATING disease at this late stage in HIS Life.
Mike may God be closer to you and Karin than ever before,
and may your prayers be answered in humility and Grace.
God's speed and His Faithful Blessings sustain you, in ALL your ways.
more dough on the way, buddy, as i've been blessed with sum
recent OT!! some double bubbles for me and the family and i am very happy
to share, whatever we can share, to aid you and yer family with its
current set of woes.
i encourage you and applaud you for being so open about such a private matter and perhaps there are sum lessons to be garnered for many of us from your willingness to share what is MOST CERTAINLY some very difficult choices, sacrifices, and losses that have crossed your path of late. i'm hoping and praying for your return to tha suds, sooner rather than later!!!
baby steps, bro. but if i know you ~~you'll be runnin' and gunnin' for the Striped Ones, ASAP!!!
Chin up and CHEERS, mate!

Now that would be nice or Fred and Mike can go for a paddle....or Karin and Jenn or..... would be nice to see you folks..........its been way too long.

Yes indeed that would be nice! Btw six-packs are way over rated, that's why I went with the keg.
