Cool

As in the ocean, there are only so many fish to catch in a pond. That pond holds approximately 30 pounds of fish per acre by size. How many ten inch perch to the pound? Also that pound estimate is a combination of fish just not perch. You just might have put a serious hurt on that section of the lake. I told you in another post it's possible to overfish an area. Now you pay the piper. You keep fishing the same area and guess what? Fished out area. EITHER MOVE OR FIND A NEW POND TO RAPE (I MEAN FISH).

yOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN THAT DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iT WILL TAKE A YEAR OT TWO TO RE-ESTABLISH THAT PERCH POPULATION IN THAT PART OF THE LAKE.

Why even try.........

think about it.......i have fished about 1 acre of bottom on this pond .....we 15 men , as a group have take 200 lbs of fish from this very healthy and plentyfull place .all types of fish bass to5 lbs, picks to 27in white and yellows perch up to 15 in and big gills...now we left the ice there was no fish or trash on the ice .only holes . culling the bio mass of this place " as good as i am "will take more than that ...what happened was the fish were not biting ,or they moved ..thats it ... flap catch me some more trout so i can use them for pike bait .....

Talking

Davey, your not the only one(s) fishing there. Remember how good the cove at Ashumet used to be? SpecialK had a derby there and wiped it out for two years.

Mark my words, you guys have put a hurt on that place. Pray for no ice next year or the year after so it can recover. Those 14 and 15 inch fish, they are called "breeders".

You can't catch fish twice once they have been hauled out, filleted and cooked.

And also remember there are other fish in the pond that eat little perch as well. It's a complex tiered environment.

I know you fish there cause you can't catch a trout but you still have to give what you can catch, like easy perch, a rest.

And one trout is way way way better than a 14 inch yellow perch. Did I mention cod fish fight better than yellow perch? Oh and that yellow perch fishing like pogie fishing is easy?

I have my dignity to defend and perch are below it. Just the thought of targeting yellow perch for a day makes me nauseous. Ooh! I feel dirty just thinking about it.

Why even try.........

Perch are very cycle bound, one year there are tons of big ones the next few runts. The Cape is like that. I see ponds with tons of stunted ones that held big ones a few years back. They always seem to rebound.
