Anyone Play Cribbage?

Point of rule interpretation. My wife and played when we were kids and are trying to get back to playing it again. We can't agree on Hoyles explanation of one of the rules. In the part of the game when you're alternating laying down your cards. You get to a point where the other person can't go and says "Go". Do you only get one "Go" or peg and then have to play as many remaining cards as you can? Or should you get a "Go" or another peg for each card you can lay down?

After one player says "go" the other player lays down their cards one at a time and score just like normal when pointing.

You don't get a peg for the "go" but rather the last card which you're sure to get.

What spence said. The last person to put down a card gets the points, but you continue putting down cards til you are out or cannot go again.

You have: 2h, 2c, 3d
Count is 22 and they say go.
You play all three cards, then take you 1 point.

I've always played where if you are given the "go", you get one peg, and since you're closing in on "31", if you can play additional cards for points before/until you reach "31", you take those points as well.
For example:
You get a "go" at 24 after you played a 10, your opponent played a 10, and you played a 4. You have a 3,2 and ace remaining.
You would get a peg for the "go" and then get to continue playing whatever cards you can before reaching "31".
By playing the 3 and 2 you would get three pegs for a run of 3, and then playing the ace would get 4 pegs for a run of 4.
The last card is only awarded if you don't play the last card on a "go".
Usually, the person that got the "go" won't be the one playing the last card.
