Talking Clean out your PMs!

Sick of hearing that right ?

Just added a great new feature to the board and it's simple to use too. So now when someone tells you to clear out your Private Messages but it's a pain because you don't want to lose any, I've added a new tool that allows you to download your PMs (gotta be carefull not to type "PMS" there) as an HTML file.

What you do is, select all of the PMs to save (or just all) and at the bottom of the PM page you'll see a "backup" button next to move, forward, and delete:

After you hit that a drop down box will ask you where on your hard drive you want to save them. Make sure to change the name to something like mymessages.html. The name will default to something like php but just change it to html.

This was why the board was down for a few minutes. I tested it several times on my "test board" first to make sure it works...

Now you can download your messages and delete the majority of them as you can keep a copy on your machine. (I had over 400 PMs going back over a year )

I'm working on a couple other things (including a better image uploader) but they'll need to wait a little first...

Thanks,

John

Can you at least see where it says download? If so, click on the browse button and got straight to the C:\ drive..

Nice feature John. Thanks.

It worked fine for me, after I picked a message to download. It used the last directory I FTP'd from as default. (This is on XP.)

Cheers,
Rob

Speaking of mods and changes, I'm trying to get colors a little easier to read without being ugly - what do you think?

Well as far as color goes, when doing the backup messages thing, I can't see the ALL next to the box. I think the blue letters are too dark against the black. That goes for all the pages. Messages save fine to a folder on my Zip Drive.

Yeh - I'm working on that last color bit. Iwas working on it but a good friend that I've talked to once in 10 years called and we wound up talking for 2 hours... Was good to hear from him.

So, now back to work
