Post EVA Foam

I want to thin my foam ends down alittle. Is this done with sand paper or file or what? Any help would be appreciated.

dry wall mesh sheets work for me. it allows the foam to clear out of the way.

if you have a lathe, i'd use that. or else, coarse file works and then sandpaper to smoothe
