canal special jig mold?

Anyone know where I could get my hands on one? I have a friend who wants to pour em. I got a quote from Collins and unfortunately his mold is out of my price range. Thanks

No, no, no. we’re 30… 30, three zero.

Zimmy I'd love to have one also. Have several hundred pounds of lead ready to go.

I have a 4 5 6 ounce ball head jig mold that accepts tying and sluggos. I've also seen guys that take a 4&5 ounce hot lips mold and dremel out the lips to make the jigs a little heavier and to get that canal jig look as well. Just some suggestions I wanted to throw out there for ya. Both molds are do-it's.

Good luck

Thanks Bob. We are trying to weigh the pro's of the canal special versus other styles. I have done ok with a regular ball jig style bucktail when I have tried em. It is hard for me to go away from the canal style though since they definately catch.

It doesn't have to be that exact jig. Look for someone online selling lots of Do-it molds and you will some similar. This link shows the Pop eye jig on the doit site.
Do-it Molds: Popeye Jig

I like ball jigs myself (you can get a mold that will make up to 5 OZ ball jigs with Mustad 34184 or 34185 hooks) when using tails and I use smilin Bills when I tie bucktail to them. I sometime fish the smilin bill tied with bucktail and with the 8 inch curtail grub together.

Anyway , I don't think you need to spend money for that exact shape. Its pretty close to others available.

Zimmy I checked the web site if the company that makes the canal special jig, but they don't have that particular mold for sale. I ordered some from the company that looked like the same mold, but wasn't. The jigs I recieved were flat. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough on the site.

If you have a couple of the jigs and can't find a mold why not make a mold out of rtv or even Bondo?
