Lami question.
I picked up a rod from the BST on the "other" website. Was told it was a GSB 1201L. Matched up with guy, rod was in great shape like the descritption. I noticed the blank was green though. Didn't think much of it because I don't know that much about blanks...hence the post. So I bring it over to Erikson Bros to have him take off a decal and he tells me that Lami never made a green blank. So now I'm a little irritated because I don't know what I have and what its rated for. I guess in the end...what ever I do have seems like it would throw eels well, so I'm keeping it, but does anyone know what it might be? It feels like a GSB...was wrapped at redtop...thanks...

It's probably a brand new SSU1201L someone wrapped and didn't like. If so I think it's a bit lighter than the GSB but a nice blank.

I have a green GSB1321m. They did make a limited production run of special colors. Different color from the SSU's.

Sounds like you got a super surf blank in which case you made out even better than expected.

It's not the bait

It's the fishing hole

Thanks for the help guys. The rod was wrapped last year apparently.
It really only looks green in the direct sunlight....

It was probably a GSB in green. Lami made limited runs in both green and blue. slipknot has a blue GSB 120 1M. I saw it in M&Ds when Mike was making it for him.
Measure the tip. A GSB 120 1L should have a size 10 or 11 tip. An SSU will have an 8 or a 9.

Lamiglas tips have been known to vary by 1/64" either way.

If you have a vernier caliper you can measure the tip and but very accuractely and then you can probably determine if its a Lami and what model to a high degree of certainty.

I actually took it over to a local builder this morning and they were able to confirm for me that the rod is in fact a Lami GSB 1L ...which is what I was told it was. They had said like some of you here that the green blank isn't all that common. So I naturally feel better about what I have. Never would have known without the help of you guys so thanks....

DS my 1201L is a green blank wrapped by fontaine. After seeing this thread had to go home and double check.
