Travel Trips?
Hey All,
I was snooping around the site, looking for fishing reports and pics from some of the members Winter trips/vacations.
I didn't see any.
Am I looking in the wrong part of the site?

No Winter fishing trips?
Road trips?
No Bass fishin' in Florida?
No surf casting in the Carolinas?
No Striper fishin' in the Chesapeake/Virginia?
Mexico?
How do you all get through the Winter?
Is there some kind of anti-fishing withdrawal drug, that you all know about?

Usually go to the Bahamas in March and do some fishing. Been going there for 20 years started doing deep sea fishing, the current price for a four hour deep sea fishing is 400 bucks for four hours, but the fishing sucks and tired of paying that kind of money.
Started going bottom fishing there four years ago for yellow tail, grouper etc: and the price is right, last year he went up on his price from 50 bucks to 60 for four hrs., normally will catch 30 fish. He takes four people max, was going about every other day while I was there.
In January usaully go to Marathon for a week, hop on a half day fishing trip or fish from shore around the seven mile bridge. You want to have a 5 gal. bucket and a battery powered air pump cost about 20 bucks, buy some live pilchers and shrimp especially if you go on the boat trip.

Ya, the Bahamas can be a tough place to go if you don't know somebody.
The Seven Mile bridge down the Keys can be very rewarding if you put in the time.
Big Tarpon and Goliath Grouper (if you can land one)
I had my "hey day" down there during the late 80's.
I kicked butt while fishing a Bonefish tournament there in '87.
Big Bones!
13.8 lbs.

Did some tarpon fishing last year around Sannibel in May. Was catching fish that were 125lbs. Caught six fish between 7 - 10 AM. As the morning warmed it started getting hot and the fishing died out. Had booked the charter for the day and finally at noon told the capt. lets call it a day. The next time I will only book a half day.
There is a great boat launch between Ft. Myers and the Sannibel bridge. Tarpon fishing from there is not as busy as Boga Grand, your only fishing amongst 15-20 boats instead of a hundred at Boga Grand.
The tarpon put on a good show once hooked, jumping and tailing. If you go tarpon fishing tell the guide you want to be fishing in open water, not the mangroves.

How do we get through the winter?
By showing love and admiration for our fellow angler by treating them with the utmost respect in congenial debate while discussing the finer points and theory of modern north east angling.
That and we drink a lot .
We do have some winter get togethers, Plug Fest, TABBIT Ice Fishing, Show, some parties, Ice Fishing, and maybe a few other things too.
I really wanted to put together a winter fishing trip to the keys or something but already running out of time
Shows, parties, Ice fishing,

No disrespect intended - more poking fun at our own cantankerousness once cabin fever settles in
We do have a lot of fun and we do have a lot of events, probably not as much as would be liked or get in all we want, but we are doing stuff somewhat regularly.
