Deadly #^^^^&s hook question
What are you guys doing when swaping out the hooks on a deadly #^^^^&? 1/0 treble? Swaish?
With "hopefully" the Ablies coming in any day now. just curious.

I dont switch the hooks. I am very sceptical of the hooks though. That being said, i am a hell of a lot more sceptical of me actually catching one of those fish. Having never caught one i dont know if i need to swith em out or not, i am looking forward to a real responce to the thread.

Hopefully someone will chime in. The stock hooks look like I could mangle it with my teeth.

Bass,
Lot's of guys from the SWE crew switch the hooks. Either to VMC 9626 trebles of similar size or to a single hook - the most popular being the smaller size (1/0,2/0) Gami Live Bait hooks.

The DD hooks are terrible. I switch mine out with VMC's both trebles and siwash, even sometimes a dressed siwash.
I don't know which is better, I've caught on all of them, and I've had all of them refused.
That's the thing with albies, sometimes they just don't want what you're throwing so you have to try stuff until you find what they want.
I have seen these new acme deadly #^^^^& knockoffs and they come with VMC's out of the box, so I may try them next.
I hope to run itno them this weekend.

I agree with Billy on the hooks, also try 3/4 oz crippled herring in all chrome, as well as the small braid abalone looking jigs, both green and blue worked well.

Switch out the hooks to VMCs. You can either go with trebles or a single. Those fish will put alot of pressure on the hook. The cheap ones will bend out.

I guess I'm odd man out on this one. I've had good luck with the stock hooks. I've never had a fish straighten one, but twhen I'm albie fishing I'm on a beach with light gear and a light drag. I have bent them unhooking bluefish but that was me with pliers.

never had a problem with the stock hooks on the DD'S...caught plenty of albies to 10 pounds on them...if your straightening the hooks, your drags too tight...

I have had the hooks bend on me, especially in the heat when there's a lot of action ... take the time to replace them with a stronger treble ...
