Crabbing

I read some earlier posts talking about the CrabHawk - the castable crab catcher. How is it doing? Have people been using them in the surf or just on the piers and jetties? Let us know how you like it. We are looking for good photo close-ups with the CrabHawk containing multiple crab that we may include on our website. Happy Crabbing!!

Crabbing up here in the northeast doesn't seem to have the same rabid following as it does in the Chesapeake Bay (Maryland) area. I have friends who live down there and they just won't shut up about their blooclaws, especially when the molt is on (mmmmmm...soft shells).

Now who the heck mentioned those left coast Dungeness crabs?

I'm getting hungry...

Wee...that's mostly cause you don't see many blueclaws north of the south Cape Beaches, and in Rhody you can't take them unless you are a resident....

One of the reasons I head to Hatteras in the "off" fishing season....cause it's the middle of crabbing season....

BTW, those soft shelled tasty guys should be showing up in some local seafood markets any day now...., they usually show up right after Mother's Day.

I have one local place that gets them flown in, still alive, even though they usually get $4-$5 a pop for them......ouch!, yet the fly outta there within a few hours, so you have to time it right....

Used to be a place in Duxbury that had them frozen and available year round for $2 or $2.50, but unfortuanely, that shop is no longer there...........actually it is, but with new owners....

I hunt blooclaws in Long Island in the deep of the night.

I don't really catch enough to eat 'em - I use 'em for tog bait.
