Lucky 13 type plug build help

Hey fellas,

I wanted to try a Lucky 13 type plug for predator fish (musky/pike)........Since the originals are so productive for bass and such. I've never made one and I'm seeking some input.

6.25 inches, 1 3/8" diameter, poplar, plan on through wire and one large treble with a dressed tail hook.

I cupped the mouth slightly and the top lip is further back than the lower lip. The mark for the hook hanger is 2.5 inches from the front of the lower lip.

What do you think for the hook hanger selection? I would like it to be fairly shallow running, so shold I place the line tie centered or top 1/3rd like the original? Should I drill for belly weight

Thanks in advance for the help, I'm super interested in your input!!!

Best,

MS
