Thumbs up Heading South soon and need some info on NC

Hi All, we are going to go down to the carolina's the 1st 2 weeks of November, we were thinking about staying in Nags head as we were there a few years ago in January.

But what we are looking for is best place to get into some great surf fishing for Red drum, black drum, Stripers and albies whatever!!!. '

Also is the surf fishing this time of year more bait fishing or lures? Have plenty of custom rods to take, 11 1/2 ft meat sticks, 11ft custom rods for casting lures. 9 fters, and light tackle. what type of lures would you suggest bringing?

Any info anybody can provide would be great as we have had a tough couple of years and we are just looking to get away for our belated honeymoon and just go hit the beaches and rip some lips and relax.

thanks in Advance
Jules

I have not been on here in a while, need to catch up with everybody as I also see alot of people on here need some thoughts and prayers going their way as well.

I haven't been down in a few years but I think 8 and bait rules unless you're going to fish the sound side. If you frequent the "other" site, Longcaster is the guy to PM.

Give Ryan a call at Hatteras Jacks, He will give you a good report and what to bring.

Hatteras jack and Frank and Frans in Avon were very helpful.

Go to Buxton. It is still has the feel of a fishing village and it has the point. It still feels like the outer banks. Worth every second of extra drive.

No, no, no. we’re 30… 30, three zero.

Thanks Guys, I sent Ryan a message but yesterday was his b-day so I think he just has not had a chance to reply after all that party stuff lOL

My Grandfather used to go every year to Avon way back in the day. I have pictures of big reds over 50 lbs and Stripers hanging on hooks on the wood box he built on his 57 Chevy, Also have a few pictures of some big albies he caught back then as well, just trying to figure out where we have the best shot at some big reds from the surf, I have heard that the spring run is better but would love to get into some surf fishing. After being out on the boat all summer and beleive me I love the boat. Bill and I just want to kick back and slam a few in the surf. its been a long time since we have had the time to fish the big rods.
