Storing 9er rigs

Has anybody got a good way to store 9er rigs on their boat?

I use an LLBean bag. But I'm trying to get more free up space on the boat (without buying a larger boat).

Fold 'em and stuff them into a 4" PVC tube. Glue an end cap to one end with a hole drilled in it for water drainage. Don't glue the other end cap. Just slip on and of.

I keep mine in the tube they came in. I have about 6 or 8 of them ( a few 9er's a few white water chanderlier rigs and a few Montauk custom made rigs) but only keep 2 on the boat at a time. I put the tubes in the front well near the anchor. I know you can buy the tubes (or you could make one like mentioned above) I have a couple stored in the lightweight clear plastic 4" tubes and a few in the heavier PVC with end caps. They both work OK.

Next winter I am going to dive into buildig a tackle storage locker for my leaning post with that starboard material. I hope to store them at the bottom of that.

I use the 4" PVC drain pipe. It is much lighter than normal pipe, cheaper, and already has many holes in it. If you use the flat style rigs, I've heard of people using pizza boxes, with a used anchovie pizza box being the prefered flavor. On a second note, central vac pipe is great for shipping rods if you have to. It is also good for storing about a half dozen tubes. Just cut to your desired length.

They do come in thier own tube but team rock on is right the 4" drain pipe works better. Get the one with the holes in it and a few end caps. The pipe sells for $5.00 and is 10' long. It takes 2' to make a tube so you get five from one and with the end caps at .40 each thats $1.30 per rig!!!!! If you like to keep them in a cabin or under deck you may want to go with the solid pipe so it won't get your other gear wet. Same price as the other.
