Squid and Licensing in RI a must...

Like the title reads you need a license to fish for squid now in RI.. as it was put in with the 2013 rules and regulations.

You can read it here in this PDF on page 44 rule 9 under the general provisions.

Any day now.......

The last 2 years you didn't need a license to fish for squid.

They added the term "or squid" this year.

I know a few people that only target squid a couple of times a year.

Figure others might too...

didn't think i needed to explain..

"Finfish" is the term they use. Squid Dont have fins!! Stay tuned for big fines in Newport in a couple of weeks.

The squid were considered a cephalopod, therefor not a finfish. Now being named directly you will need a license

We have zero enforcement in RI. Our green cops have the job due to an uncle who or family member who got them in. No one will be fined. That would require them stepping out of the vehicle and potentially getting that "oh so pretty" uniform dirty. Or heaven forbid their manicured nails.... All is well, nothing to see here poach away!!!
