worm shortage
my local shops are complaining they cant get any worms lately and the ones they do get are junk. wasn't there some place in maine that was farming/growing them? did they go belly up
|
my 1st wife didn't like me fishing so much

Yeah, I noticed that the ones I got a few weeks ago looked pretty lousy too. Several years ago, someone succeeded in growing incredible
worms; there was an article on it in the Boston Globe. They looked
like boa constrictors; I would have been afraid to put one on my hook
because they'd bite my finger off! Unfortunately, the (obviously threatened) worm diggers found out about it, and somehow or other
managed to shut them out of the bait shops. So now, we have overpriced, undersized worms.

This isn't new news, local, such as in the states, worm availability has dropped off since a large European company has started to flood the market with cheap worms.

It's the tides - the last few days they've been crappy, but we'll have good ones again by midweek.
Last week I had 3 or 4 per dozen over 12"s.
Bruce @ Canal Bait goes the extra mile to have quality when the rest of the cape is out or has shidoobi.
