I guess in Norway the fish are so big that they fish with a tractor instead of a rod. The slogan over there must be "Nothing catches like a Deere"

Bloocrab, they are called "Sei" in Norwegian, they school up and I think they are in the cod family (Is "Saithe" an english word?, found it here on this link http://www.bodoe.com/seifiske/vme.html click on the rules part and scroll down, there is a picture there.). (The other kind we used to catch a lot of was "vitting"<sp>(Norwegian again) and I think that is weakfish). Most of the fishing was done in the northern part of Norway in a place called Bodų, the area is Saltstraumen.

Most of the fishing was from land or small row boats in Saltstraumen.

Redlite, sometime fishing from land you could catch big halibut feeding schools of baitfish. I don't think John deere are comonly used to fish with, they come in handy showing of the fish. I don't know if that one was caught by a comercial boat, normally they would filet it up while still at sea.

RM and Rob, thanks. I'd love to have a Nantucket sleghride from one of those.. hehe

Sorry about the multiple pictures.

John R, I saw your comment in another post on limiting the pictures to 2 when uploading. I will adhere to that rule

I'm going to try linking to a picture... try 1... here I go. This is from fishing under the midnight sun (Same place as all the previous pictures)

Rob,
it's a fishing competition there every year see link in one of my previous posts. We used to go up there in the fall with a huge chest freezer (run of a generator) on the back of a pickup truck. We could fill that freezer up in 2 - 3 tide changes. You fish for 2-3 hrs, then filet, wrap the fish in freezer paper and pack it in the freezer. We used to sleep in the barn at my cousins house, that way we could come and leave at any time of day and night.

Now I have to look and see if I can find any of the old pictures from fishing trips to Iceland fishing for Atlantic Salmon.
