I store them in a tupperware container of moistened kosher salt, a good amount, in fridge. I store eelskins the same way and have had them in fridge for many years still. Wife still keeps trying to chuck them but I keep telling her they are fine in there. On the plugs the hooks will rust out eventually and may need replacement the following year if you try to store them for the off season. I usually just cut the skin off for the off season and wash the plug off good and re skin next year. Sometimes the skin will dry out if you don't keep them covered with the salt concoction.
