Tools - Woodworkerswarehouse has good sales/harborfreight/ e-bay/used tool stores look local.
Wood- I have some AWC 2x6x4 good for practicing on and you could pull a few plugs out of it. Let me know your welcome 2 it, Ill leave it at Mikes. You got a table saw?

Hi Bliz, I would highly recommend getting top of the line tools for turning.
I have a Sorby 1/8" parting tool and a 1" skew and a 3/4" roughing gouge made by Record Power. Both companies are from Sheffield England.
They use a much higher quality steel, which will hold a better edge.
Sharp tools are key.
The above 3 tools will run you around $100.00

Best price for 1/8" parting tool, 3/4" gouge and a 1" skew. $91.97
This is where I bought mine.

Damascus Steel is superb quality for knives! I'm sure it's the same for turning tools!
