Camp Grounds - Jamestown to Westport

A family from Jersey I know is thinking about coming up soon to the Newport area to camp - what campgrounds are in that area?

Thanks,

John

horseneck has one, cheap too. couple of other smaller ones in town. most of the larger state parks have campgrounds with showers and facilities.

Fort Getty on Jamestown!
Excellant Boat Ramp and good facilities. Don't know if they have any space available but we have friends that are there every year.
Boat Ramp is into Dutch Island Cove. Just a short cruise to Beaver Tail and other West Passage "Hot Spots"!

Melville in Portsmouth ain't bad.Good luck finding vacancies anywhere. Most camprounds are booked YEARS in advance these days. Most of the state parks don't allow overnite camping anymore, but check out www.riparks.com for the particulars.

When they go to Newport to party just park the camper on Lower Thames and then it is just a short stmble or crawl back when the nights over.
In the morning there is a few good breakfast spots around there and tons of stuff to do for the little lady
