Clamp on rod holders
Any body have a brand or style they like for clamp on rod holders? I would like to mount two towards the front of the boat for trolling and bottom fishing

Are the bottoms solid on those rod holders or can the rod handle slide down to the reel

If you look at the last pic... there is a "stop" on the bottom.

Did you screw that on naked or did you put something between that and the bar you screwed it around?
Meaning, I've seen some use what looked like rubber membrane to help with not scratching your SS
If so, what do you use?
Those look pretty good, especially for that price.

No rubber, I put em on naked. Don't really care if my rail gets scratched.
For the money you can beat these. I have people fight fish out of them with no problems. Hardware is decent, clamps are strong, finish is good.

I am replacing my old ones this year. I like those the FF posted. There are lots of similar ones on eBay.
I did use a piece of bike tire inner tube between the rail and clamp to protect the railing. I have them on the side rail not the bow so I can reach the rod from the cockpit.

So I installed the rod holders and they look great. i would like to mount them in a fashion where the rod tip is horizontal to the water. I plan I buying rod leashes. Any suggestions on how to mount these to avoid them falling out while trolling?

The ones you just bought I have on the bow at about a 20° angle up.
I also have 4 rod holders literally mounted straight out of the hull pointing at the horizon and haven't lost a rod yet
