Cork preserver or sealer

What is it? Do you have to buy "cork preserver" or is it something else just called cork preserver or cork sealer. Where can you get it?

'cork preserver'

i had a couple of tubes of "cork grease" left over from the days i used to repair musical instruments. used them on the corks grips of my rods, softened them up & made them pliable again ...
it is used on clairnets to keep the joint tight , no problems with it on the rods . you can get it at any music store , comes in a tube like chapstick . we also used to use vaseline on new cork , just had to wipe it down good after it soaked it to get rid of the greasies ...

U-40, you put it on after sanding, but I usually leave it as the very last step on a custom rod. It penetrates the cork to seal it and it makes it much easier to clean down the road.
I was running low and just picked some up from Smitty at the Rod Builders Workshop, as a certain Slipknot character needs me to "wrap" things up on stuff I've had for months.
