WTB 30-35 gallon steel drum

I am looking for a 30 or 35 gallon steel drum with a cover and the ring seal. I will be cutting a hole in the top to mount a Cyclone seperator.

To give you an idea of what I want , its like a 55 gallon drum but only about 19.5 inches in diameter by about 30 inches tall. The cover has no holes in it and the cover is held on by a circular hoop around the top rim with a snap type close mechganism attached to the hoop. They sell for $57 new but I figure someone must sell used ones (recycled) for maybe $20. Our local scrap yard (state Line Scrap) no longer sell out of the yard.

Any ideas in the RI/SE MA area?

NE Container on 116, I think they recycle drums...

The one on Rt 116 only has new ones Ed. They have used 55 gallon but not the thinner 30-35 gallon. Steel 55 gallon (even empty) is too big for me to pick up and move around now.

If you can find the cardboard fiber barrels they are great. Lightweight and sized aroung 30gl. My dust/chip separator works fine with this barrel. The lid has a locking steel ring band. This originally had commercial ink in it.

Craigslist is your friend for that. I looked for plastic ones for a different purpose, but saw metal as well.

if you find one please post it. I want to add a cyclone to my system.
I also have tried a 30 gal Galvanized trash can. Which cyclone are you planning on using?

Oneida Super Dust Deputy.

That's the larger steel one (on sale now for $199) . They make a smaller steel one and a plastic small one. I have the smaller plastic one (dust deputy) on my self made HEPA vaccuum set up and it works great. Very little gets past the cyclone section so the HEPA Filter does not clog up. I am setting up serious dust collection in my woodworking shop. I will have the HEPA vac , an Air Purifier that goes to 1 Micron and a big central dust collector that will have duct work , HEPA Filter , Cyclone Seperator , etc.

I want to build a chip collector in front of my Jet 0.5 micron vacuum that does not loose a bunch of vacuum.

If its a 2.5 inch hose the regular "dust Deputy" will fit and it does a great job. You simply mount it on top of a 5 gallon bucket that you can buy at Lowes for a couple of bucks. That's exactly what I did to keep the HEPA filter in my Shop Vac from getting clogged or damaged by the larger stuff that the cyclone seperates out.

I could use one with a bolt on cover ring too. It doesn't have to be a lever or snap lock.
